We finally had the Royal event of the year, the beautiful union of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle… and my gosh was it an event! The new Duchess of Sussex looked absolutely stunning and of course, we can’t forget about Prince Harry who looked very dapper in his army uniform! Here is a Royal break down of her looks, including her evening dress, from the big day.
Wedding Gown
Many were expecting something contemporary and sprinkled with a little bit of that ‘Markle Sparkle’. However, the new addition to the Royal family stunned in a timeless piece designed by none other than Clare Waight Keller, the Artistic Director from Givenchy. The gown began with a boat neck which when followed down, was slightly clinched at the waist before flaring out into a beautiful long skirt. The dress itself was very simple and plain and the detail was all in the veil.
Her veil was 16 feet long and embroidered with flowers from each of the 53 countries in the commonwealth. Each piece of detailing was done by hand and the seamstresses washed their hands every 30 minutes to ensure the veil remained in immaculate condition.
Hair
The new addition to the Royal family kept it simple and effortless when it came to her hair. A simple updo with a few loose strands framing her face. Many questioned her hair after the loose strands fell out, with many saying the hairdresser did a bad job… however, I think it still looked stunning! She finished her simple look with Queen Mary’s Lozenge Bandeau Tiara which hadn’t been worn in decades!
Face
As with her dress, the Duchess of Sussex kept her make up very simple and stunning. She was radiating a lovely natural glow… but just how did she manage that? We know that she had a little hen party pampering at a spa resort which would’ve helped her unwind and relax before the big day for certain. I’m sure she had some lovely facials to encourage that beautiful natural glow. What I loved the most was that she didn’t cover her skin up, she had her freckles on show with some natural nude blush to encourage a further glow.
Evening Look
For this look, Meghan requested help from Stella McCartney who created a sexier, more manageable dress for the evening celebrations. Made from silk, the dress just seemed to fall onto her figure creating a smooth enviable silhouette! The beautiful halter-to-polo-neck design was accessorised with Princess Diana’s Asprey aquamarine ring. It was a beautiful and sentimental way for the newly wed to finish her again, simple and stunning outfit.
Something many may have not noticed, was the shoes! Although this was a floor length piece you can catch a glimpse of her stilettos which rocked a baby blue (arguably aquamarine) sole. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?
Something old & borrowed… Diana’s cocktail ring!
Something new… Her beautiful gown!
Something blue… Her shoes and the beautiful ring!
Completely the wrong order and maybe the I’ve missed the mark here but to me it adds up! In all, Meghan Markle looked every bit like a princess. She radiated elegance through simplicity and it was so refreshing. Her fresh-faced look is definitely going to be a trend and I can already see brides requesting designs similar to the Duchess’s beautiful gown.
